Nationally touring acoustic jazz band
Returning from his tour with Wynton Marsalis, OG violinist Eli Bishop is back in action with Occidental Gypsy for our upcoming shows.
This photo is of Eli Bishop playing with Eric Reed and the JALC Orchestra for Wynton Marsalis’ “Blood On The Fields” performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Way to go Eli! Happy to have you back with us!
Thanks to everyone for coming out to The Katharine Hepburn Center for the Arts (“The Kate”) last week. You were the best audience, we really appreciate your warm reception for our new songs too.
Please also check out our music page, where we’ll be adding recordings of some of our new pieces, until next time…
We couldn’t have asked for a better intro to summer than seeing so many of our fans on the road these past few months. We’ve also enjoyed the contributions of stellar musicians like Erick Cifuentes, Eli Bishop and Yuki Nakajima, who’ve made the entire road experience creatively fulfilling and fun too.
Could we have envisioned when we set out, that we’d be so well received in venues like Nighttown in Cleveland, Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, the World Cafe, the Blue Wisp & Old Town School in Chicago, the Lowell Music Fest, the Flying Monkey in New Hampshire, and 4 times at the Rhythm & Roots Festival?
Wow, we’ve played in 22 states and counting….
So, to keep you posted, this summer we’ll be taking a break from the road to get busy writing new material, working out the nuances for some pieces you heard previewed on the road, and booking ourselves some new gigs for next year. We are hoping to release some new music in 2014, and in the meantime, want to ask you to keep listening, keep in touch and keep us posted too. See you soon!
